Sensoria

Sound Sensoria (Alisa) is a Sound Therapist, Ambient Slow Tempo DJ and Sound + Music Curator based in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Alisa started her musical journey in the early 2000’s as a Progressive and Deep House DJ in New Zealand where she held several club residencies and radio shows, and has played to festival crowds in New Zealand and Canada.

As a club DJ, Alisa took people on external journeys as a means of escape and release. Her Sound Therapy Certification means she is able to take people on internal journeys as a means of self exploration and examination while deepening the art of listening.

What is a Sound Bath?

A sound bath is the easiest meditation you’ll ever do.

The term bath in this context refers to the act of immersing yourself in sound: think music, instruments, and vibrations that promote a Delta brainwave state. These sounds calm and regulate the nervous system and send you into a state of deep relaxation, healing, and emotional release. The goal is to gently shift stuck energy using sound and vibration.

Sound Sensoria’s version is a combination of various sound healing instruments including crystal bowls, mixed with ambient electronic music and soundscapes to evoke a state of deep embodied listening and reflection.

The ultimate goal is to allow surrender in order for your body and nervous system to relax, restore and recalibrate. However, experiences can vary and sound and vibration are powerful tools and can bring blocked emotions to the surface.

Alisa is Trauma informed and has her Certification in Somatic Psychedelic Facilitation, giving her the ability to guide you and hold safe space if unexpected emotions arise.

I have had the privilege of experiencing sound sessions with Alisa in a group, in pairs, and solo. Every time I have felt safe, held, and challenged to 'play the edge' between comfort and discomfort in a way that is utterly supportive. The combination of curated soundscapes and healing bowls feels both grounding and uplifting, leaving me feeling cleansed and affirmed.

This was my first experience with sound therapy. I experienced healing on a cellular level. I find it hard to put into words what Alisa has created and my experience of it, It felt like deep and profound therapy, a clearing of grief and anxiety, a calming and organising of my thoughts. A wave of music, energy and vibration softened and cleared that which talking and thinking could not touch.
